George teaches two-week long portrait workshops in the studio in Barons Court along with his wife, Isabella Watling.

On the course the student paints one portrait in the mornings and a different model and portrait in the afternoons over the ten days. In each class either Isabella or George will be painting alongside the group of five students whilst the other gives critiques. Although the demonstrations will be in oil paint, there is also the option of working in charcoal which some students choose to do. More information and help with the recommended materials is given if you decide to sign up.

The workshop is based on the courses at the Charles H. Cecil studios. The teaching is developed from the instruction that Charles received in Boston which links through John Singer Sargent all the way back to Titian. The approach is focused around the idea of working from life and training the eye.

A portfolio submission is not required; the course is for all levels as the teaching will be one to one. The price of the course is £2000 which includes the cost of the models but not materials. You can reserve a place by paying a deposit of £500.
